Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets to create once-in-a-lifetime art and design objects.

What began 23 years ago as Studio Job has evolved into a full-scale creative studio with a team of skilled artists, makers, and a network of expert producers. Today, Studio Job enjoys international recognition, with its art pieces displayed in the world's most prestigious galleries.

GREY: THE NEW BRONZE

Studio Job enjoys playfully reinterpreting the world as it is. “We don't just want to design a ship, we want to tell a story,” explains Smeets. This vision is captured in the choice of grey (RAL 7035), a color that can be associated with wisdom, age, distinction, and above all, timelessness. The Firmship is the archetype of the cabin ship, not only functional but designed to look functional. “It’s a boat that people will still admire fifty years from now,” Smeets adds.

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

The seats are upholstered with exclusive fabrics featuring anchors, Moby Dick, ship rats or a sextant, designed specifically for Firmship. The wooden table features an inlaid Corian top, naturally, in light grey. Even the steering stool was custom-made.

The meticulous craftsmanship behind every Firmship enhances its timeless appeal. The wood in the cabin is finished with such precision that the grain of each plank flows seamlessly into the next.

Glass & lead is a subject Studio Job uses a lot in his artwork, for Firmship he designed a little window in the hut. The natural daylight shines through the window and plays with the poetic nautical atmosphere in the hut.
