FIRMSHIP FS42
The new Firmship 42 is a classic boat with a modern look. Centuries-old nautical traditions have been renewed by Studio Job with artistic design – without sacrificing any part of function or comfort. Firmship is more than just a sturdy boat, it is a floating work of art.

DESIGN ON A PEDESTAL
But how do you get people interested in a boat who may not even know they want one?
“By making the Firmship more than just a boat. It is also a floating work of art”, Casper Vissers explains, founder of Firmship and co-founder of Moooi and Revised. The design of the sturdy steel hull was made by naval architect Willem Nieland, and the reinvention of the boat by artist Job Smeets (1970), working under the name Studio Job.
Smeets has achieved worldwide fame as an artist and designer, creating refined mostly bronze art objects that are made with tremendous artisan skills, dedication and patience.

WARM LUXURY
Despite its sturdy functionality and artful aesthetics, no concessions have been made in terms of comfort. “The Firmship could be a great alternative to a holiday home,” says Vissers. “With all the additional benefits”. A boat is not only more affordable than a second home but has more benefits like sailing to a peaceful spot or change locations over and over again. Inside the cabin you experience a timeless nautical atmosphere. It is the warm teak and the silent RAL 7035 light grey basis of all materials which makes this interior unique, peaceful and timeless.
DREAM BOAT
The Firmship 42 is available in two different versions. Steel with teak paneling and a strong diesel engine, but also in a sustainable version made of aluminum, bamboo wood paneling and an electrically powered engine. The sustainable version is as beautiful as the traditional version.

The upholstery of the bench has prints of anchors,
Moby Dick, ship rats or a sextant.

Studio Job likes to make fun of things as they are. “We don’t just want to design a boat, we want to tell a story”, explains Smeets. Hence the grey. Because grey is also synonymous with old and wise, distinguished too. In one word: timeless. The Firmship is the archetype of the cabin boat. This boat is not only functional, it also looks functional. People should still like it fifty years from now.”

ITS ALL IN THE DETAILS

The custom made Studio Job upholstery of the bench has a plethora of unique iconography, including anchors, Moby Dick, ship rats and a sextant, all woven elegantly tone-on-tone.

Glass & lead are materials Studio Job uses a lot in their art work, for Firmship they have designed a stained glass window in the cabin. The natural daylight shines through the glass playing with the poetic nautical atmosphere of the interior.
