THE FIRMSHIP DEFENDER

Interior

Timeless, rugged, adventurous, and iconic. The Defender is a beautiful car that stands the test of time. With its classic design, trustworthy character, and honest simplicity, it remains a true icon in the automotive industry.

Firmship embodies this same spirit: you could say a Firmship is the Defender on the water. That is why we took on the challenge, together with Job Smeets, to translate the unmistakable Firmship DNA onto a modern Defender.

NO-NONSENSE

AERA, known for crafting everyday instruments, share Firmship's core values: no nonsense design with functionality, durability and longevity. There is a joint love for classic archetypes that become icons.

Job

Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets to create once-in-a-lifetime art and design objects.

At Firmship, we design yachts with a bold, timeless presence. Every detail reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and enduring style. Surpassing trends, we draw from a rich heritage of design, using only the finest materials to create iconic and comfortable interiors. Inspired by the effortless elegance of vintage lobster boats, our vessels balance classic nautical lines with a refined modern aesthetic.

In close collaboration with renowned designer Job Smeets from Studio Job, known for his playful way of interpreting the world as it is and fresh take on iconic forms, we crafted a design that stands apart. The result is a yacht that not only looks beautiful but also stands the test of time, proving that great design can be both classic and contemporary.

“We don’t just want to design a ship, we want to tell a story.”

What began in 1998 as Studio Job has evolved into a full-scale creative studio with a team of skilled artists, makers, and a network of expert producers. Today, Studio Job enjoys international recognition, with its art pieces displayed in the world’s most prestigious galleries.

Studio Job enjoys playfully reinterpreting the world as it is. “We don’t just want to design a ship, we want to tell a story,” explains Smeets. This vision is captured in the choice of grey (RAL 7035), a colour that can be associated with wisdom, age, distinction, and above all, timelessness.

The Firmship is the archetype of the cabin ship, not only functional but designed to look functional. “It’s a ship that people will still admire fifty years from now,” Smeets adds.
